All materials should be submitted via e-mail attachment to mcgoeyeditor@comcast.net Our upcoming Issue themes and material deadline dates are as follows: Fall 2010— Taboo Issues and the African American Pulpit. This issue will highlight some of the most controversial issues with which African American clergy are now faced. Too often these issues are not publicly discussed. Now is the time to bring things out in the open. We are looking for articles on issues you believe should be addressed although they are controversial. We also want sermons in which preachers have addressed controversial issues. Some of the issues we would like to address are: women not being supported by denominations; are black denominations still relevant?; the divorce rate of preachers; debt and clergy; prosperity preaching; the failure by preachers to support their successors; a lack of opportunities for young preachers; proper pulpit attire; and more. The deadline for submission of material to mcgoeyeditor@comcast.net is February 4, 2010. Winter 2010–2011—Eulogies III. As with Eulogies I and II, this issue will feature the eulogies of outstanding African American preachers, civic leaders, cultural icons, and persons who made a difference in our community. Please submit eulogies of persons you believe should be considered for inclusion in this issue. The deadline for submission of material to mcgoeyeditor@comcast.net is May 5, 2010.

Desiring to create new national conversations around the use of Scripture in worship and preaching, In 2007 The Rev. Martha Simmons, president and publisher of The African American Pulpit, commissioned Drs. Katie Cannon, Brad Braxton, and Rodney Sadler Jr. to facilitate the first year of an ecumenical, web-based, African American lectionary. Dr. Leo Davis and Mr. Nolan Williams Jr. served as Lectionary Liturgists and Dr. Bernice Johnson Reagon and Reverend William Wiggins Jr. served as Cultural Historians for the lectionary. Throughout the project, now in its second year, clergy, worship leaders, historians, cultural anthropologists, poets, musicians, and others have contributed lectionary readings, poetry, music, and worship planning ideas. Persons can send e-mail to info@theafricanamericanlectionary.org through August 2010 if they would like to contribute to the lectionary and help us make history!
